The AIIMS Examination Section has officially released the Detailed Recruitment Advertisement (DRA) for the Common Recruitment Examination-5 (CRE-5) on 13th June 2026. This CRE-5 Recruitment 2026 is a special drive to fill numerous regular Non-Faculty Group B and C posts across 32+ participating AIIMS and other Central Government Institutes/Bodies including ICMR, ESIC, and CNCI. With the last date set for 3rd July 2026, eligible Indian nationals are invited to apply online for a single-window examination process.

Vacancy and Category Analysis

With 10,302+ total vacancies across groups and approximately 8–10 lakh expected applicants based on previous CRE-4 trends, the selection ratio stands at roughly 1 in 80 to 1 in 100. UR and EWS candidates face higher competition due to limited unreserved seats compared to OBC/SC/ST where reservation provides a relative advantage. PwD candidates have dedicated 4% reservation (1% each under 4 categories) but must match benchmark disability 40% and identified post suitability. Applicants applying for multiple groups must pay separate fees—this reduces competition per group as candidates spread across preferences.

Salary and In-Hand Calculation

In-hand calculation example for Pay Level 5 (Pharmacist): Basic ₹29,200. DA (currently 50%) = ₹14,600. HRA (X city 27%) = ₹7,884. TA = ₹3,600. Gross = ₹55,284. Deductions: NPS (10% of basic+DA) ~₹4,380, CGHS ~₹300, CGEGIS ~₹30. Net in-hand approx ₹50,500 – ₹52,000 per month. Compared to a similar Lab Technician post at same level which offers ₹49,000 in-hand due to lower risk allowances, this post offers slightly higher take-home due to patient-care allowances. Candidates posted in X-class cities (Delhi, Mumbai, etc.) receive approx ₹7,800 more per month than Y-class city postings – a difference of ₹93,600 annually.

Application Fee

Fee is non-refundable even if application rejected. Candidates applying in more than one group must pay separately for each group. Common mistake: Using wrong fee category for EWS – ensure you use SC/ST/EWS category option. Fee refund for SC/ST happens only after result declaration.

Age Limit

Example: If your date of birth is 5th July 1991 and closing date is 3rd July 2026, you are 34 years 11 months. Not eligible for UR (max 30) but eligible for SC/ST. Always calculate with exact closing date.

Eligibility Criteria

Most common eligibility mistake: Assuming diploma from open distance learning (ODL) is valid for engineering/medical posts. UGC regulations prohibit ODL for medicine, engineering, physiotherapy, etc. Final year students are generally not eligible unless they have degree certificate by closing date.

Selection Process

Stage 1: Computer Based Test (CBT)

90 minutes, 100 MCQs (80 domain + 20 GK/Computer), negative marking 1/4. Qualifying marks: UR/EWS 40%, OBC 35%, SC/ST/PwBD 30%.

Stage 2: Skill Test (as applicable)

Typing, stenography, physical efficiency, or trade test. Qualifying in nature for most posts. Candidates who miss skill test are not eligible for posts requiring it but may still be considered for others in same group.

Stage 3: Document Verification & Medical Exam

PwBD candidates undergo medical board by respective AIIMS. Original certificates including NOC, caste, OBC non-creamy layer (2026-27), and experience mandatory.

Your first 7 days after applying: 1) Download and save application PDF with transaction ID. 2) Get your OBC/EWS certificate if expiring. 3) Practice CBT in bilingual mode if eligible. 4) Verify your scribe choice in application (for PwBD). 5) Keep NOC ready if govt employee.

Exam Pattern (CBT)

Sectional lockdown applies—you cannot return to a section once time ends. Medium of exam: English only for degree-level technical posts; Bilingual (English/Hindi) for 10th/12th based posts.

5. Fill educational and experience details carefully – no correction after submission.
6. Pay fee via Debit Card/Credit Card/Netbanking.
7. Submit application and take printout of registration slip.
8. Download admit card when released – no physical copy sent.

FAQ

What is approximate in-hand salary after deductions?

Approximately ₹35,000 for Level 4 to ₹75,000 for Level 8 posts after NPS, CGHS, and tax deductions. For Level 5 (Pharmacist) example, in-hand is ₹50,500–52,000 depending on HRA city class. Always calculate with basic pay + DA 50% + HRA (8-27%) + TA – NPS (10%).

What is last date to apply for CRE-5 2026?

3rd July 2026 up to 5:00 PM. No extension will be provided. Complete registration at least 3 days prior due to heavy server traffic especially on last day.

Minimum 10th pass (Matriculation) for Group 16 posts. 12th pass for LDC and Data Entry Operator. Diploma required for technician/JE. Degree needed for officer level. Distance education degrees valid only if recognized by DEB-UGC for relevant period.

What is age relaxation for OBC SC ST?

OBC: 3 years, SC/ST: 5 years, PwBD: 10 years, Ex-Serviceman: length of service + 3 years. Central Govt employees with 3+ years service get up to 5 years for Group B, up to 40/43/45 years for Group C based on category.

Can final year students apply?

No. Essential qualification must be complete and certificate in hand by closing date (3rd July 2026). Experience, if mentioned, must be after acquiring essential qualification.

Is there negative marking in CBT?

Yes. 1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer. No negative marking for unanswered questions. Qualifying marks vary by category (UR 40%, OBC 35%, SC/ST/PwBD 30%).
