Selection Process
The selection is conducted in four major stages:
- Shortlisting of Applications – based on bonus marks (max 100).
- SSB Interview (5 days) at Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, or Jalandhar.
- Medical Examination – conducted after recommendation.
- Merit List & Joining – final selection based on SSB marks and medical fitness.
Shortlisting Bonus Marks (out of 100):
| NCC ‘C’ Certificate Performance (Max 50 marks) | |
|---|---|
| Grade | Marks |
| ‘A’ Grade | 50 |
| ‘B’ Grade | 25 |
| Graduation Aggregate (Max 50 marks) | |
|---|---|
| Percentage (%) | Marks |
| Upto 59.99% | 0 |
| 60.00 – 64.99% | 5 |
| 65.00 – 69.99% | 10 |
| 70.00 – 74.99% | 20 |
| 75.00 – 79.99% | 30 |
| 80.00 – 84.99% | 40 |
| 85.00 – 100% | 50 |
Example: A candidate with 78% in graduation and ‘B’ grade in NCC gets 30+25 = 55 bonus marks. Another with 72% and ‘A’ grade gets 20+50 = 70 bonus marks. Higher bonus marks increase your chance of being shortlisted for SSB.
SSB Interview: Comprises Stage I (Officer Intelligence Rating, Picture Perception & Discussion Test) and Stage II (Psychology, Group Tasks, Personal Interview, Conference). Approximately 270 days medical validity – previous SSB medical fitness may be reused.

Expert Tips – Secure Your Selection
📅 Apply Early
Don’t wait for the last day. Submit the form at least 72 hours before closure to avoid server issues and to receive timely OTPs.
🎓 NCC & Academics Balance
Both NCC grade and graduation percentage contribute to shortlisting. Even if your NCC grade is ‘B’, a high graduation score (75%+) can compensate.
💪 Physical Fitness
OTA demands: 2.4 km run in 10:30 sec, 30 push-ups, 40 pull-ups, 06 sit-ups, squats & lunges sets. Start training at least 3 months before SSB.
📂 Document Ready
Keep self‑attested photocopies and originals of all certificates in a single folder. Verify that your NCC ‘C’ certificate issue date is on or before the application date.
📝 SSB Preparation
Practice the Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PPDT) daily. Work on group discussion skills and be thorough with current affairs.
⚠️ Avoid Rejection
Double‑check name spelling, date of birth, and percentage calculation. Any mismatch between online form and original certificates leads to cancellation.
