Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:
  • Must be a citizen of India
  • Must hold a Degree in Law (LL.B.)
  • Must have sufficient knowledge of Marathi language to speak, read, write and translate from Marathi to English and vice-versa
Experience Required:

Option 1:

  • Practicing as an Advocate in Bombay High Court or subordinate courts for at least 7 years as on the date of advertisement
  • OR serving as a Judicial Officer in Maharashtra Judicial Service for not less than 7 years
  • Period of working as Law Clerk, Public Prosecutor, or Government Advocate will be included while computing 7 years

Option 2:

  • Working or worked as Public Prosecutor or Government Advocate for not less than 7 years
  • Practice period as an Advocate will be included while computing 7 years

Selection Process

  1. Preliminary Written Examination (Screening):
    • Multiple choice objective type questions
    • Only for short-listing candidates
    • Marks not counted in final selection
    • Shortlisted candidates in 1:10 ratio will be called for Main Exam
  2. Main Written Examination:
    • Two papers of 100 marks each (Total 200 marks)
    • Duration: 3 hours per paper
    • Medium: English
    • Minimum qualifying marks: 50% in each paper (45% for Backward Class/PwD)
  3. Viva-Voce (Interview):
    • Total marks: 50
    • Candidates will be called in 1:3 ratio of vacancies
    • Minimum qualifying marks: 40% (35% for PwD)

    • Selected candidates must be medically fit
