FMGE June 2026 -Overview & Quick Snapshot
If you have been tracking the FMGE June 2026 exam fee, syllabus, and passing marks details, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially released the Information Bulletin for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) Screening Test -June 2026 session. The exam is scheduled for 28 June 2026, with online applications open from 21 April 2026 to 11 May 2026. FMGE is a mandatory screening test under the Screening Test Regulations 2002 for any Indian citizen or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) holding a primary medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) from a foreign medical institution, who wishes to obtain provisional or permanent registration with the National Medical Commission or any State Medical Council in India. The exam comprises 300 MCQs across two parts, and the passing threshold is a minimum of 150 marks out of 300. One critical data point aggregators rarely display clearly: the total fee payable is ₹6,195 (including 18% GST) -not ₹5,250 -and there are no exemptions for any category.

Quick Eligibility Check
- You are an Indian Citizen, Non-Resident Indian (NRI), or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
- You hold a Primary Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent) from a foreign medical institution, confirmed by the Indian Embassy concerned to be a recognised qualification for enrolment as a medical practitioner in that country.
- The result of your final examination for the primary medical qualification was declared on or before 30 April 2026.
- You possess an Eligibility Certificate (EC) from the National Medical Commission -or your NEET-UG result is valid as an EC substitute (if applicable as per gazette notifications).
- Your degree has been apostilled or attested by the Indian Embassy concerned, as per the Hague Convention requirements.
- You are a foreign national other than a Nepalese citizen and not an OCI -foreign nationals (non-OCI, non-Nepalese) cannot apply for FMGE.
- Your primary medical qualification result was declared after 30 April 2026.
- You hold an MBBS from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, or the USA and also hold a postgraduate medical qualification from the same country -you are exempt from FMGE.
- You have previously passed FMGE -once qualified, you cannot appear again.
- Your primary medical qualification from Pakistan was obtained without MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs) security clearance, unless admitted before November 2018 or by 13 April 2022 after MHA clearance.
- You took admission to your primary medical qualification on or after 18 November 2021 and are non-compliant with the NMC (FMGL) Regulations 2021.
Expert Note: Candidates who obtained admission to their primary medical qualification on or after 18 November 2021 must specifically verify compliance with the National Medical Commission (Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate) Regulations 2021 -this is a strict eligibility filter unique to recent graduates that is separate from the EC/NEET-UG requirement and has resulted in declared-ineligible outcomes for candidates who missed this provision.

Applying in the first 3 days of the window opening -ideally before 24 April 2026 -is strongly recommended for FMGE June 2026. The apostille/attestation of your Primary Medical Qualification Certificate by the Indian Embassy concerned is the most time-consuming document to obtain, as embassy appointment slots are limited and processing times vary by country. Candidates who delay application risk missing the final document rectification deadline of 16 June 2026 -and unlike most competitive exams, NBEMS will declare you ineligible and forfeit your entire fee if documents are not submitted by that date. There is absolutely no extension granted regardless of previous session admit card history.

| Result Cut-Off Date | Final examination result must have been declared on or before 30 April 2026. |
| Eligibility Certificate (EC) | Required from NMC for candidates who took admission to a foreign medical institution on or after 15 March 2002 (exceptions apply -see Section 4.6 of bulletin). NEET-UG result valid as EC substitute for those intending admission from May 2018 onwards (NEET-UG result valid for 3 years from declaration date). |
| Apostille / Attestation | Primary Medical Qualification Certificate must be apostilled by the appropriate authority of the foreign country OR attested by the Indian Embassy, as per Hague Convention of 5 October 1961. Deadline: 16 June 2026. |

| Pakistan Degree Holders | Eligible only if admitted before November 2018, or after obtaining MHA security clearance by 13 April 2022. FMGE result will only be declared post MHA clearance. |
The most common eligibility disqualification for FMGE applicants is incomplete or unattested documentation -specifically the Primary Medical Qualification Certificate without a valid apostille or Indian Embassy attestation, and the absence of a valid Eligibility Certificate where required. NBEMS will not grant any equity based on previous session admit card issuance -if your documents are incomplete for this session, you are declared ineligible even if you appeared in five previous sessions without issue.

Admit Card and Exam Day Procedures
Admit cards will be available for download from the NBEMS website from 24 June 2026. Admit cards will not be sent by post or email -candidates must download from their NBEMS login. Key exam day requirements include a printed colour copy of the barcoded/QR-coded admit card, and at least one original, valid, non-expired government-issued photo ID (PAN Card, Driving Licence, Voter ID, Passport, or Aadhaar with photograph). The name on the photo ID must exactly match the name on the admit card. Candidates who provided Aadhaar in the application must carry their Aadhaar and ensure biometric authentication is not locked on exam day. The reporting counter closes 30 minutes before the test start time -late arrivals are not admitted under any circumstances. Friends or relatives accompanying candidates are not permitted on examination premises.
How to Apply -Step by Step
- Visit the NBEMS official website at natboard.edu.in and navigate to the FMGE index page for the June 2026 session.
- Read the complete Information Bulletin -particularly the eligibility criteria, document requirements, and the image upload guidelines before creating your user profile.
- Create your User ID and Password (New User Registration) -enter your full name exactly as in your Primary Medical Qualification Certificate. Name cannot be changed after application submission. Use a laptop/desktop with a cleared browser cache; do not use mobile phones for this process.
- Fill the application form -enter all mandatory fields including name, gender, date of birth, nationality, Aadhaar (cannot be changed later), email ID, mobile number, and educational details.
- Upload required images and documents -recent colour passport photograph (not more than 3 months old), scanned signature, thumb impression, Primary Medical Qualification Certificate with apostille/Indian Embassy attestation, Eligibility Certificate or NEET-UG result (if applicable), and citizenship proof. Follow image upload guidelines strictly -non-conforming images lead to rejection.
- Select four test city choices from the list of 75 cities -no preference order is asked; allocation is random from your four choices.
- Pay the examination fee of ₹6,195 (₹5,250 + ₹945 GST) via UPI, Credit Card, or Debit Card. Verify the payment status shows “S” (Successful) in the application form before closing the session.
- Submit the application and take a printout of the completed form with the Transaction ID and payment status “S” clearly printed. Save this for your records.
- ✔ Recent colour passport-size photograph (within 3 months, as per NBEMS image guidelines)
- ✔ Scanned signature (black ink on white paper)
- ✔ Scanned left thumb impression

- ✔ Payment method with ₹6,195 available and stable internet connection
- ✔ Aadhaar number submitted in the application CANNOT be changed at any stage -enter it with utmost care
- ✔ Name, Nationality, Email, Mobile Number, and Test City are non-editable fields even during the Edit Window -verify these before submitting
- ✔ Submit only one application -NBEMS will issue the admit card to the higher application number and forfeit fees for duplicates
- ✔ Get your PMQC apostilled/attested before applying -this is the most common reason for declared-ineligible status
- ✔ This article is for informational purposes only -always verify from the official NBEMS Information Bulletin
Three rejection mistakes specific to FMGE applicants:
- Submitting an unattested or inadequately apostilled Primary Medical Qualification Certificate -NBEMS requires attestation strictly in accordance with the Hague Convention requirements, and certificates attested after 16 June 2026 will not be considered for FMGE June 2026 eligibility under any circumstances.
- Uploading a photograph that is not recent (more than 3 months old) or that does not match the face biometric verification standards -this is a mandatory facial ID step at the exam centre, and mismatches lead to denied entry even with a valid admit card.
- Candidates admitted to their primary medical qualification on or after 18 November 2021 applying without verifying compliance with NMC (FMGL) Regulations 2021 -NBEMS will cancel candidature and revoke any previously issued FMGE pass certificate if false admission dates are claimed.
Haryana RTE EWS Admission 2026-27 – Complete Guide for Parents
Expert Tips
Tip 1: Apply Before 25 April -Embassy Apostille Lead Time Is Your Biggest Risk
The single most common reason FMGE applicants are declared ineligible is an unattested or incorrectly apostilled PMQC. Indian Embassy appointment slots in countries with large medical student populations (Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, China) are often booked 4–6 weeks out. If you apply on the last date (11 May 2026) and discover your attestation is not in order, the deficient document correction deadline is 16 June 2026 -leaving you only 5 weeks to procure a fresh apostille, which is rarely achievable. Applying in the first week forces you to front-load document verification, where problems can actually be fixed.
Tip 2: Your Highest-Priority Blueprint Subjects Are Community Medicine and OBG -Together 60/200 Clinical Marks
Community Medicine (30 marks) and Obstetrics & Gynaecology (30 marks) together represent 60 of the 200 clinical marks -and 20% of the total 300-mark paper. For candidates who find basic science subjects (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry -51/100 combined) more challenging, an aggressive focus on Community Medicine and OBG offers the highest marks-per-study-hour return in this specific exam. The NMC Competency Based Curriculum for these subjects is the official preparation resource -not any third-party “FMGE guide” that adapts older MCI-era material.
Tip 3: Select Four Geographically Spread Test City Choices to Minimise Allocation Risk
NBEMS allocates test centres through a random process from your four choices -and explicitly states that if no seat is available in any of your four cities, you may be allocated a centre anywhere in India. Candidates who select four cities in the same region (e.g., four South Indian cities) run the risk of being sent to a distant city if south Indian centres fill up. Select at least one city from a different zone -for example, if you are based in Kerala, add Hyderabad, Mumbai, or New Delhi as a backup choice. Test city allocations are communicated by 17 June 2026; exam is 28 June 2026 -that leaves only 11 days for travel and accommodation arrangements.
Tip 4: The Most Common Disqualification in FMGE June 2026 -Admission After 18 November 2021 Without FMGL Compliance
Candidates who joined their foreign MBBS on or after 18 November 2021 are subject to the NMC (Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate) Regulations 2021 -a relatively recent regulatory framework that many students and coaching centres are not fully aware of. NBEMS has explicitly stated that any candidate found non-compliant with FMGL 2021 provisions will be declared ineligible, and any FMGE pass certificate already issued to such a candidate will be revoked retrospectively. Check your admission date against these regulations at www.nmc.org.in before submitting your application.

- How many test cities are available for FMGE June 2026?
- There are 75 tentative test cities across India for FMGE June 2026, covering all major states including metros and tier-2 cities. Candidates must choose four different cities during application. NBEMS allocates one centre through a random process and may assign a centre outside the four choices if seats are unavailable.
