| Total | 11 | 6 | 5 | 5 | 4 | 2 | 33* |
*Note: Advertisement shows 24 total vacancies in first table but detailed breakdown sums to 33 across categories – likely due to multiple postings within same cadre. Candidates should verify final numbers on application portal before submitting.
Which category has highest seats: UR candidates have the largest share with 11 unreserved seats, followed by SC with 6 vacancies. Junior Assistant has most vacancies (7 posts) making it the most accessible entry-level position. PwD reservation exists for Librarian (Hearing Impairment) and Lab Attendant Home Science (Visual Impairment-Low Vision). PwD candidates from any category (UR/SC/ST/OBC/EWS) can apply against these reserved seats.
Competition ratio: With 24 permanent DU college posts and approximately 1.2–1.5 lakh expected applicants based on similar 2024 non-teaching DU recruitments, the selection ratio stands at roughly 1 in 5,000 to 1 in 6,250. UR candidates face higher competition for general posts while OBC/SC/ST have slightly lower odds due to category-specific reservation buffers. Junior Assistant at Pay Level 2 typically attracts the highest application volume (8,000–10,000 per seat).
Salary and In-Hand Calculation
| Post | Pay Level (7th CPC) | Basic Pay (₹) | Gross Approx. (₹) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Librarian | Level 10 | 57,700 | 75,000–80,000 |
| Assistant / Lab Assistant | Level 4 | 25,500 | 40,000–45,000 |
| Junior Assistant | Level 2 | 19,900 | 30,000–35,000 |
| Library / Lab Attendant | Level 1 | 18,000 | 25,000–28,000 |
In-hand breakdown (Junior Assistant example): Basic Pay ₹19,900 + DA (current ~50% of basic = ₹9,950) + HRA (Delhi – X class city 27% = ₹5,373) + TA (approx ₹1,800–3,600) = Gross ₹37,000–39,000. Deductions: NPS (10% of basic+DA = ₹2,985) + CGEGIS (~₹150) + Professional Tax (~₹200) = ₹3,335 deductions. Approximate in-hand = ₹33,500–35,000 per month.
For Assistant/Lab Assistant (Level 4): Basic ₹25,500 + DA ₹12,750 + HRA ₹6,885 + TA ₹3,600 = Gross ₹48,735. NPS deduction ₹3,825. Approximate in-hand = ₹44,500–45,000 monthly.
Comparison: Compared to Junior Assistant post at same pay level in other DU colleges which offers ₹32,000–34,000 in-hand, this post offers similar take-home due to identical pay structure under 7th CPC. However, Lakshmibai College’s location in Ashok Vihar (Delhi) qualifies for X-class city HRA (27%) vs Y-class (18%) – a difference of ₹1,791 per month or ₹21,492 annually compared to non-metro postings.
Beyond salary: Benefits include NPS pension contribution by government, medical facilities under CGHS, LTC, children’s education allowance, and 7th Pay Commission pay matrix promotions.
Application Fee
| Category | Fee (₹) | Payment Mode |
|---|---|---|
| Unreserved (UR) | 1,000 | Online (portal-specific) |
| OBC (NCL) / EWS | 800 | Online |
| SC / ST | 500 | Online |
| PwBD & Women | Nil | No fee payable |
Critical warning: Each post requires separate application and separate fee payment. Applying for Assistant and Junior Assistant? Pay fee twice on respective portals (Librarian on rec.uod.ac.in, all others on dunt.uod.ac.in). Fee once paid is non-refundable under any circumstance including application rejection.
Age Limit
| Category | Min Age | Max Age | Relaxation |
|---|---|---|---|
| General (UR) | As per rule | 32 years* | None |
| OBC (NCL) | As per rule | 35 years | +3 years |
| SC / ST | As per rule | 37 years | +5 years |
| PwBD | As per rule | 42 years | +10 years |
| PwBD + OBC | As per rule | 45 years | +13 years |

| Ex-Servicemen | As per rule | 37 years | +5 years |
| Departmental candidates (DU/College) | As per rule | No upper limit | Unlimited (with 1+ year service) |
Age calculation example: Upper age limit determined as on closing date (01 July 2026). If your birth date is 02 July 1994, you turn 32 on 02 July 2026 – you are eligible for UR category. If born 03 July 1994, you are overage for UR but OBC/SC/ST relaxation may apply.
Eligibility Criteria
| Post | Qualification | Stream/Subject | Experience |

Final year candidates: Not eligible – prescribed qualification must be possessed as on closing date (01 July 2026). No provisional certificates accepted.
Equivalent qualifications: Not automatically accepted. Decision rests with University as per functional requirement of department.

3-hour computer-based test with 150 questions carrying 300 marks. Syllabus includes General Studies, Reasoning, Mathematical Ability, and Functioning of Higher Educational Institutions (45 questions on DU Act/Statutes/Policies).
