Age Limit (as on 01st August 2025)

- Bihar Government Servants (for higher post): Upper age relaxation of 5 years is allowed, provided they have completed a minimum of 3 years of regular service
- Ex-Servicemen: Upper age relaxation of 3 years is allowed. Additionally, relaxation equivalent to the defence service period is also applicable, provided the actual age does not exceed 57 years
Note: Age will be calculated based on the Date of Birth (DOB) mentioned in the Matriculation / equivalent examination certificate.
Educational Qualification
- Degree Required: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Physics from any recognised University
- Minimum Marks – General / OBC / EBC / EWS: 50% marks in B.Sc (Physics)
- Minimum Marks – SC / ST: 45% marks in B.Sc (Physics)
- Qualification Cut-off Date: The degree must be completed on or before 01st August 2025
- Nationality: Indian Citizens only (Male, Female & Transgender can apply)
- Domicile: Reservation benefits are available only for original residents of Bihar. Candidates from other states belonging to any reserved category must apply as General / Unreserved candidates

Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of the following stages. Candidates must qualify each stage to proceed to the next:
Stage 1 – Preliminary Written Exam
- 100 MCQ Questions – Total Marks: 100 – Duration: 2 Hours
- General Knowledge & Current Affairs: 40 Questions (Graduate Level)
- Physics: 60 Questions (Graduate Level)
- Minimum 30% marks required to qualify (i.e., 30 out of 100)
- Top 20 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) will be shortlisted for Main Exam
- Negative Marking: 0.2 marks deducted for every incorrect answer
Stage 2 – Main Written Exam (Two Papers)
- Paper 1 – General Language Knowledge: Hindi 50 Marks + English 50 Marks = 100 Marks – Duration: 1.5 Hours – MCQ (Intermediate Level). Minimum 30 marks required to qualify. This is a qualifying paper only – marks are NOT added to final merit.
- Paper 2 – Physics (Graduate Level): 100 MCQ Questions – Total Marks: 100 – Duration: 3 Hours. Minimum 33% marks (33 out of 100) required to qualify. This paper decides the final merit ranking.
- Negative Marking: 0.2 marks deducted for every incorrect answer in both papers
- Top 5 times the number of vacancies (category-wise) from Paper 2 will be called for Physical Test
Stage 3 – Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Aptitude Test (PAT)
- This is a qualifying stage – candidates must pass all 4 events individually
- Events: Running, High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put
- Maximum 3 attempts are allowed for High Jump, Long Jump, and Shot Put
- Running is a single-attempt event – candidates exceeding the prescribed time will be disqualified
Stage 4 – Medical Examination, Character & Document Verification
- All finally selected candidates will undergo medical fitness examination
- Character verification and background check by the appointing authority
- Document verification of all submitted certificates and proofs
- Final merit list is prepared based on Main Exam Paper 2 (Physics) marks only
