Indian Navy Agniveer MR Recruitment 2027 – Complete Guide for 01/2027 & 02/2027 Batch
Indian Navy Agniveer MR Recruitment 2027 has been officially notified by the Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment, Naval Headquarters, New Delhi. Online applications are invited from unmarried male and unmarried female Indian candidates for the Agniveer (MR) 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches. The application window is open from 14 March 2026 (00:01 hrs) to 06 April 2026 (17:00 hrs) at www.joinindiannavy.gov.in. The Stage I examination — INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test) 2026 — will be conducted in May 2026.
Agniveer MR (Matric Recruits) is one of the most significant government job opportunities for candidates who have passed their Class 10 (Matriculation) examination. Unlike the SSR entry which requires 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics, the MR entry requires only a Matric pass with a minimum 50% aggregate — making it accessible to millions of candidates who completed their secondary schooling but did not pursue higher secondary education in science. This is a rare opportunity to join the Indian Navy, one of the country’s most prestigious armed forces, on the basis of Class 10 qualification alone.
A critical distinction that all MR aspirants must note: unlike Agniveer SSR where the Provisional Select List is prepared on state-wise merit, the Agniveer MR merit list is based on All India merit. This means MR candidates compete nationally — making preparation quality and INET performance even more critical regardless of which state you belong to. The INET for MR is also shorter and at 10th standard level — 50 questions in 30 minutes across two sections — making focused preparation highly rewarding.
Recruitment Overview
The Agniveer MR (Matric Recruits) entry in the Indian Navy deploys personnel in non-technical support, services, and logistical roles across naval ships, submarines, and shore establishments. The MR category has historically been a cornerstone of the Indian Navy’s enlisted workforce, and under the Agnipath scheme it continues to offer structured 4-year service with government-matched savings, insurance coverage, and a pathway to permanent enrolment for the top 25% of performers in each batch. The Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment at Naval HQ manages this recruitment centrally for all batches.

Important Dates
The Agniveer MR 2027 recruitment timeline mirrors the SSR timeline — both share the same INET 2026 Stage I examination window and schedule, with separate Stage II processes for each entry category and each batch. One important strategic point: a single INET 2026 exam performance gives you the opportunity to be shortlisted for both the 01/2027 and 02/2027 batches simultaneously — provided your age falls within the eligible birth date range for each batch’s Stage II. The correction window (10–11 April 2026) and the additional post-INET correction window (2 days) are your only opportunities to fix any application errors.

Application Fee
The examination fee for Agniveer MR 2027 is ₹550 plus 18% GST, payable during the Stage I INET application online. This is the only fee charged across the entire selection process — there is no separate fee for Stage II (PFT, Written Exam, and Medical). Payment must be made through Net Banking, Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card, or UPI. Your INET admit card will be generated only after successful payment. If your payment is deducted but the admit card is not generated, wait for 7 working days for an automatic refund before attempting any further action. Never attempt to register or pay twice — multiple registrations result in debarment with no fee refund.
| Fee Component | Amount | Applicable Stage | Payment Mode |
|---|---|---|---|
| Examination Fee + 18% GST | ₹550 + GST | Stage I – INET only | Net Banking / Visa / Master / RuPay Credit-Debit Card / UPI |
| Stage II Fee | Nil | No fee for Stage II | — |
| CSC Upload Assistance (Optional) | ₹60 + GST | Application stage only | At CSC — entirely optional facility |
Age Limit
The age eligibility for Agniveer MR 2027 is identical in structure to the SSR — defined by birth date ranges rather than an age number. For the INET 2026 application, candidates born between 01 December 2004 and 31 October 2009 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply. Stage II eligibility is batch-specific: for the 01/2027 batch Stage II, the birth date range is 01 December 2004 to 31 May 2009; for the 02/2027 batch Stage II, it is 01 May 2005 to 31 October 2009. Candidates born between 01 May 2005 and 31 May 2009 are eligible for Stage II of both batches — a strategic advantage through a single INET performance. All candidates must be unmarried at the time of enrolment and must remain unmarried throughout the 4-year tenure.
| Stage / Batch | Date of Birth Range (Both Dates Inclusive) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| INET 2026 Application (Both Batches) | 01 Dec 2004 – 31 Oct 2009 | All candidates in this range may apply |
| Stage II – Agniveer MR 01/2027 | 01 Dec 2004 – 31 May 2009 | Must fall in this range for 01/2027 Stage II eligibility |
| Stage II – Agniveer MR 02/2027 | 01 May 2005 – 31 Oct 2009 | Must fall in this range for 02/2027 Stage II eligibility |
| Marital Status | Must be unmarried at enrolment; marriage during 4-year tenure results in dismissal from service | |
Eligibility Criteria
The Agniveer MR entry has the most accessible educational eligibility of all Indian Navy enlisted entries — a Matriculation (Class 10) pass with a minimum 50% aggregate from a Board of School Education recognised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. There is no requirement for specific subjects like Physics or Mathematics at the qualifying level, making this entry available to candidates from any stream who have a strong Class 10 performance. Candidates currently appearing in Class 10 board exams for the academic year 2025–26 are also eligible to apply, provided they fulfil all other conditions and produce their original mark sheet (internet copies not acceptable) at subsequent stages of recruitment.
| Qualification | Minimum Marks | Board / Institution Type | Subject Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Matriculation / Class 10 (Passed) | 50% aggregate | Board of School Education recognised by Ministry of Education, GoI | No specific subject requirement specified |
| Class 10 Appearing (2025–26) | Must secure minimum laid-down marks (original marksheet required at later stages) | Same as above | Individual subject minimum marks as per category — check official brochure |
Vacancy Details
The official notification does not specify a fixed number of vacancies for Agniveer MR 01/2027 and 02/2027. Trade-wise vacancies for male and female candidates will be decided based on the Indian Navy’s service requirements. A crucial distinction for MR: unlike Agniveer SSR where the merit list is state-wise, the Agniveer MR Provisional Select List is prepared on All India merit. This means there is no state-wise quota or state-wise cut-off for MR — all eligible candidates from across India compete in a single national merit list. This is both a challenge (you compete with the entire country) and an opportunity (candidates from smaller or lower-competition states do not enjoy a cut-off advantage, but high performers from any state can secure selection).
| Post | Batch | Gender | Total Vacancies | Merit List Basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Agniveer (MR) | 01/2027 and 02/2027 | Male & Female (Unmarried) | Not mentioned in official notification. Candidates are advised to check the official portal for updates. | All India merit (NOT state-wise) |
Selection Process
The Agniveer MR selection process follows the same three-stage structure as SSR but with important differences in the exam format. Every stage is eliminatory — each must be cleared to progress to the next.
Stage I: INET 2026 (Indian Navy Entrance Test) — MR Specific Format
The MR INET is a computer-based, bilingual (Hindi & English), objective-type test of 50 questions, 1 mark each, conducted in just 30 minutes. This is significantly shorter and simpler than the SSR INET (100 questions, 1 hour, 4 sections at 10+2 level). The MR INET has only two sections — Science & Mathematics and General Awareness — both at 10th standard. Negative marking of 0.25 per wrong answer applies. Candidates must pass in all sections and in aggregate. The Indian Navy reserves the right to determine pass marks. Centre allocation is at the Navy’s discretion — candidates provide three city preferences.
Stage II Part A: Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
PFT is mandatory and qualifying — only PFT qualifiers proceed to the Stage II Written Exam and Medical. Candidates undergo PFT at their own risk. Standards are identical to SSR:
| Gender | 1.6 Km Run | Squats (Uthak Baithak) | Push-ups | Bent Knee Sit-ups |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Male | 6 min 30 sec | 20 | 15 | 15 |
| Female | 8 min | 15 | 10 | 10 |
Proficiency in sports, swimming, and extra-curricular activities is desirable. Begin cardio and strength training from today — the 1.6 km run timing requires consistent dedicated conditioning over several weeks to achieve reliably.
Stage II Part B: Written Examination — MR Specific Format
The Stage II written exam for MR is conducted only for PFT qualifiers and mirrors the MR INET format exactly — 50 objective questions, 1 mark each, bilingual, 30 minutes, two sections (Science & Mathematics and General Awareness) at 10th standard. Pass in all sections and in aggregate is mandatory. The Provisional Select List is prepared on the basis of Stage II written exam performance, subject to PFT and medical qualification.
Stage II Part C: Recruitment Medical Examination
Medical examination is conducted for all PFT qualifiers by authorised military doctors. Candidates found medically unfit may appeal for review at a designated military hospital (allocated by the Indian Navy) within 5 days. No certificate from any other hospital is accepted. No further review or appeal is permissible after the designated hospital review. Pre-enrolment medicals are also conducted at INS Chilka before final induction — failure at this final medical results in rejection even at that stage.
Exam Syllabus & Pattern
The detailed syllabus and sample papers for both MR INET (Stage I) and Stage II written examination are available on the official website at joinindiannavy.gov.in. Unlike SSR, the MR exam has a simpler two-section structure at 10th standard level, making it more approachable with focused preparation. The key to success is maximising accuracy — because negative marking penalises wrong guesses, and the All India merit list means every mark counts nationally.
Agniveer MR INET & Stage II Written Exam Pattern
| Feature | Agniveer MR | Agniveer SSR (for comparison) |
|---|---|---|
| Total Questions | 50 | 100 |
| Total Marks | 50 | 100 |
| Duration | 30 minutes | 60 minutes |
| Sections | 2 (Science & Maths + General Awareness) | 4 (English + Science + Maths + General Awareness) |
| Standard | 10th (Matriculation) | 10+2 |
| Negative Marking | 0.25 per wrong answer | 0.25 per wrong answer |
| Medium | Bilingual (Hindi & English) | Bilingual (Hindi & English) |
| Merit List Basis | All India merit | State-wise merit |
Preparation Strategy for MR INET
With only 30 minutes for 50 questions, the MR INET demands fast, accurate answering at 10th standard level — averaging 36 seconds per question. For Science & Mathematics, focus on Class 9 and 10 NCERT topics: basic physics (force, motion, electricity, light), chemistry (periodic table basics, acids/bases, carbon), biology (cell, heredity), and mathematics (algebra, geometry, statistics, mensuration, trigonometry basics). For General Awareness, focus on current affairs (last 6 months), Indian geography, history, polity basics, defence knowledge (Indian Navy ships, bases, ranks, recent exercises), and national awards. Practice previous year Agniveer MR question papers from joinindiannavy.gov.in for the most accurate preparation benchmark.
Salary, Seva Nidhi & Financial Benefits
The pay structure for Agniveer MR is identical to SSR — a monthly package starting at ₹30,000 in Year 1 rising to ₹40,000 in Year 4, with 70% paid as in-hand salary and 30% going into the Agniveer Corpus Fund (matched equally by the Government of India). The total Seva Nidhi payout on exit is approximately ₹10.04 lakh — a significant financial foundation for the next phase of a candidate’s career or education. In addition, risk and hardship, dress, and travel allowances are paid. Note that there is no gratuity or pension under the Agniveer scheme — the Seva Nidhi is the primary financial benefit at exit.
| Year | Monthly Package | In-Hand (70%) | Candidate Corpus (30%) | Govt. Corpus Contribution |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1st Year | ₹30,000 | ₹21,000 | ₹9,000 | ₹9,000 |
| 2nd Year | ₹33,000 | ₹23,100 | ₹9,900 | ₹9,900 |
| 3rd Year | ₹36,500 | ₹25,550 | ₹10,950 | ₹10,950 |
| 4th Year | ₹40,000 | ₹28,000 | ₹12,000 | ₹12,000 |
| Seva Nidhi Total | — | — | ₹5.02 Lakh | ₹5.02 Lakh |
Additional Benefits: Non-contributory Life Insurance of ₹48 lakh for full engagement period. Death ex-gratia of ₹44 lakh (attributable to service) to NOK, in addition to insurance. Disability compensation of ₹44/₹25/₹15 lakh based on 100%/75%/50% disability. Medical facilities at service hospitals and CSD provisions for the full 4-year tenure. 30 days leave per year plus sick leave as advised by competent medical authority.
How to Apply Online – Step by Step
- Recent passport-size color photograph (taken not before March 2026) — 10 KB to 50 KB, front portrait, light background, no head gear (except Sikhs). Candidate must hold a black slate with name and date written in white chalk in capital letters.
- Scanned copy of Class 10 mark sheet showing 50%+ aggregate (or school admit card if appearing in 2025–26 exam)
- Domicile certificate (original scan)
- NCC ‘C’ Certificate or Sponsorship Certificate (if applicable — upload during Stage I for INET exemption)
- Valid personal email ID and mobile number (for all future communications — no postal communication)
- Online payment method — Net Banking / Visa / Master / RuPay Credit-Debit Card / UPI (for ₹550 + GST fee)
- Visit the official recruitment portal at joinindiannavy.gov.in from 14 March 2026 (00:01 hrs). Do not wait for the last date — apply in the first week.
- Register and create your account on the Candidates Registration Portal with your own active mobile number and email ID. All future communications including admit card, results, and call-up letters use only these contact details.
- Fill the application form carefully with accurate personal, academic, and domicile details. Select your three preferred city choices for INET — once selected, the centre cannot be changed.
- Upload all required documents including Class 10 mark sheet, domicile certificate, NCC/Sponsorship certificate (if applicable), and the specified photograph (holding black slate as described).
- Capture live photograph through the webcam as required during application form filling. Ensure good lighting — blurry, dark, or unclear webcam photos can result in cancellation of candidature.
- Pay the examination fee of ₹550 + 18% GST online. Confirm admit card generation to verify successful payment. If payment is deducted but admit card not generated, wait 7 working days for automatic refund — do not attempt to pay again immediately.
- Submit the application and save your confirmation. Download your admit card tentatively one week before the INET exam from joinindiannavy.gov.in. No admit card or call letter will be sent by post at any stage.
- Incorrect domicile certificate details — wrong domicile information results in cancellation of candidature at any stage of recruitment, training, and thereafter with no recourse available.
- Photograph not taken with the black slate — the photograph must show the candidate holding a black slate with name and date written in white chalk in capital letters. A standard passport photo alone is not acceptable and will result in rejection.
- Submitting multiple applications — candidates who register more than once will be rejected, debarred from the examination, and will receive no fee refund.
Important Instructions for Candidates
- All original documents uploaded during application must be brought to every stage of recruitment including INS Chilka. Any mismatch between online application details and original documents results in immediate cancellation.
- Mobile phones and all electronic devices are strictly prohibited inside the INET examination premises — violation leads to disqualification and ban from future examinations.
- Tattoos are permitted only on the inner face of forearms (inside of elbow to wrist) and the reversed/dorsal side of the palm. Tattoos anywhere else on the body disqualify the candidate from recruitment.
- Minimum height for both male and female candidates is 157 cm. Height relaxation regulations are available at joinindiannavy.gov.in. Candidates should clean ear wax and remove dental tartar before the medical examination.
- The Agniveer MR merit list is All India — unlike SSR which is state-wise. This means every mark in the INET and Stage II written exam contributes to a national competition with no regional advantage.
- Police Verification Form must be downloaded with the INS Chilka call-up letter and submitted after getting antecedents verified by the Superintendent of Police of your jurisdiction. Candidates without verified Police Verification are not eligible for enrolment.
- This content is for informational purposes only. Candidates must refer to the official notification at joinindiannavy.gov.in for all binding details.
Expert Tips to Crack Indian Navy Agniveer MR Recruitment 2027
Apply in the First Week of the Window
The application closes on 06 April 2026 at 17:00 hrs sharp — no exceptions. Apply between 14–20 March to avoid end-of-window server congestion and to ensure you have time to use the 2-day correction window (10–11 April 2026) if needed. A second correction window opens post-INET for 2 more days — monitor the portal carefully. There are no further amendments after these windows close. Early application also means your documents are verified early in the process, reducing last-minute anxiety.
Focus Heavily on the All India Merit List Reality
This is the single most important strategic point for MR aspirants: the Provisional Select List is based on All India merit — not state-wise merit as in SSR. This means you are competing with every eligible candidate across the country in a single ranking. Candidates from highly competitive states like UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, and MP are known to score very high in objective-type exams at the Matric level. Targeting a score of 42–45 out of 50 (84–90%) in both INET and Stage II written exam should be your preparation benchmark — not just clearing the pass marks. Every additional mark you score improves your All India rank significantly.
The Photograph Requirement Is Unique — Prepare It Specifically
The Agniveer MR application requires a photograph taken not before March 2026 showing the candidate holding a black slate with their name and date of photograph clearly written in white chalk in capital letters. This is not a standard passport photo — you need to arrange a black slate or blackboard piece and write on it before your photo is taken. Get this photograph taken within the first few days after the application window opens so you are ready to apply immediately. A live webcam photograph is also captured during form filling — ensure you are in a well-lit room with a plain background for this.
Train for PFT from Day One — 30 Minutes INET Is Your Shorter Battle
The MR INET at 30 minutes is shorter and at a lower standard than SSR — experienced 10th-standard students can perform well with 3–4 weeks of focused NCERT-level revision. However, the PFT — particularly the 1.6 km run in 6:30 (male) or 8:00 (female) — requires physical conditioning that cannot be built in days. Start your running and fitness training from the day you submit your application in March 2026. Stage II for 01/2027 batch is in October 2026 — you have approximately 6 months, which is enough time to transform your fitness level from moderate to excellent with consistent effort.
Know Your Medical Standards Before Stage II
Medical disqualification after clearing INET and PFT is a significant and avoidable setback. The two most commonly overlooked medical conditions are vision and tattoo placement. Uncorrected vision must be at least 6/12 in both eyes — get this checked by an ophthalmologist well before Stage II. If you have tattoos anywhere other than the inner forearm or back of the palm, you will be barred regardless of your exam and fitness performance. Clean your ears for wax and get dental tartar removed before the medical examination date, as advised in the notification. A basic pre-medical self-assessment saves you from an avoidable disqualification.
Monitor joinindiannavy.gov.in Regularly Throughout the Entire Process
The entire Agniveer MR 2027 recruitment process spans from March 2026 (application) to May 2027 (02/2027 induction) — over 14 months. All communications are electronic only — results, shortlisting notices, call-up letters, and admit cards are published exclusively on your online dashboard at joinindiannavy.gov.in. Keep your registered mobile number and email ID active throughout. Set reminders for every tentative milestone: INET result (May–June 2026), 01/2027 Stage II call-up (September 2026), and 02/2027 Stage II call-up (February 2027). No enquiry is entertained after 6 months of completion of the respective batch’s recruitment cycle.

- On completion of 4 years, Agniveer MR receives the Seva Nidhi corpus of approximately ₹10.04 lakh. Based on organisational requirements and performance during the 4-year period, up to 25% of each batch may be offered the opportunity to apply for permanent enrolment as regular sailors in the Indian Navy. This is at the Indian Navy’s discretion — Agniveers have no right to claim permanent enrolment.
