Age calculation example: Post notification date is 29 April 2026. Your date of birth must be between 29 April 1998 and 28 April 2008 for General Male. An OBC male from Gujarat with DOB 30 March 1993 will turn 33 on 30 March 2026 – still eligible because the relaxation extends upper limit to 33 years (i.e., born on or after 29 April 1993). Common eligibility mistake: Candidates with a B.Tech in Civil or non-specified discipline are NOT eligible for SC/TO or JE posts. The degree must be in the exact discipline mentioned. For Maintainer, ITI should be of 2 years. 1-year ITI or trade apprenticeship without ITI certificate is not accepted. Final year students can apply but must produce original marksheet at document verification. Equivalent qualification (e.g., polytechnic diploma from another state board) is allowed only if recognized by Government of Gujarat.

Selection Process

1. Written Test (OMR based – MCQ type)

For SC/TO & JE: 120 questions (Technical 40, Gujarati 20, Logical 20, Aptitude 20, General English 20). Duration: 2 hours. Negative marking: -0.25 for each wrong or unattempted question. Gujarati language test is qualifying only (60% for Gen, 50% for reserved). Your rank is based on the remaining 100 questions (technical + reasoning + aptitude + English).

2. Psycho Aptitude Test (Only for SC/TO)

Only candidates who clear written test cutoff will be called. This is a qualifying test. Failure to pass will disqualify you even if your written test rank is high. No negative marking here, but pattern is not disclosed by GMRCL. Prepare by practicing situational judgment and reaction time tests.

3. Medical Examination

SC/TO requires Aye-One (A-1) medical standard including 6/6 naked vision. JE requires Aye-One not below Aye-Three. Maintainer requires Bee-One (B-1). Medical board is headed by Civil Surgeon. First medical is free; second medical (if appeal) is at your own cost. Candidates with basic surgery are declared unfit.

  5. Upload scanned signature (140×60 pixels, ≤15 KB, black ink on white paper).
