The selection involves a two-stage competitive examination — Preliminary (MCQ) followed by Main (Descriptive). Vacancy and Category Analysis

Post Name UR EWS SEBC SC ST Ex-Serviceman PwD Total
Sub Accountant / Sub Auditor (Class-3) 271 70 171 46 113 67 19 671
Accountant / Auditor / Sub Treasury Officer / Inspector (Class-3) 44 10 27 8 16 10 0 105
Total 315 80 198 54 129 77 19 776

The SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Classes) category has the single largest reserved share at 198 seats out of 776, making it the most numerically significant reserved category in this recruitment. ST candidates have 129 seats, which is relatively generous compared to typical state-level finance cadre recruitments. PwD reserved seats (19) exist only under the Sub Accountant cadre; the Accountant cadre has no reserved PwD seats in this notification, though eligible PwD candidates may apply against unreserved vacancies in that cadre.

Expected competition level is HIGH based on similar GSSSB finance cadre recruitments in 2023–25. With 776 total vacancies and approximately 3–4 lakh expected applicants based on similar GSSSB Class-3 finance drives, the selection ratio stands at roughly 1 in 400. ST candidates historically face comparatively lower competition per available seat in Gujarat state recruitments due to the higher proportional reservation, while UR candidates face the sharpest competition given 315 seats against the largest applicant pool.

Salary and In-Hand Calculation

Important: These posts carry a fixed consolidated pay for the first five years. The regular pay scale under ROP-2016 applies only after confirmation at the end of five years, subject to satisfactory service.
Post Fixed Pay (First 5 Years) Regular Pay Scale (After 5 Years) Pay Level
Sub Accountant / Sub Auditor (Class-3) ₹26,000/month ₹25,500 – ₹81,100 Level-4
Accountant / Auditor / Sub Treasury Officer / Inspector (Class-3) ₹49,600/month ₹39,900 – ₹1,26,600 Level-7

During the fixed-pay period (first five years), the ₹26,000 or ₹49,600 is a consolidated amount — standard allowances like HRA, DA, and TA are not separately added during this phase, as this is a fixed contractual pay governed by specific Finance Department resolutions. Approximately ₹23,000–₹24,500 per month in-hand (Sub Accountant) can be estimated after NPS deduction (~10%) and other statutory deductions from the ₹26,000 fixed pay. For the Accountant post, estimated in-hand during fixed-pay period is approximately ₹44,500–₹46,000 per month after NPS deduction from ₹49,600.

After five-year confirmation at Level-4, with basic pay of ₹25,500 + current DA rate + applicable HRA (based on posting city class), gross monthly salary rises substantially. Candidates posted in X-class cities (Ahmedabad, Surat) would receive higher HRA than those posted in Y or Z-class cities — a difference that can amount to ₹2,000–₹5,000 more per month, translating to ₹24,000–₹60,000 annually. Compared to a similarly-graded Gujarat government Class-3 post at Level-4 such as Junior Clerk, this post offers meaningfully higher long-term earnings due to the superior regular pay band and departmental allowances in the Accounts and Treasury department.

Beyond salary, selected candidates are entitled to government medical facilities, earned leave, and NPS pension benefits applicable to Gujarat state employees.

Application Fee

Category Preliminary Exam Fee Main Exam Fee Payment Mode
Unreserved (General) ₹500 ₹600 Online only (Debit Card / Net Banking / UPI / Wallets)
Reserved (All categories: SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD, Female, Ex-Serviceman) ₹400 ₹500 Online only

At the current stage, only the Preliminary Exam fee is payable. The Main Exam fee will be collected separately if you qualify. Critically, fees paid are refunded to candidates who actually appear for the examination — do not skip the exam after paying. If your fee payment does not generate a receipt on OJAS, the payment is not considered complete and your application will be rejected without notice.

Age Limit

Category Min Age Max Age Relaxation
Unreserved (Male) 20 years 35 years Nil
Unreserved (Female) 20 years 40 years +5 years (max 40)
Reserved Category Male (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) 20 years 40 years +5 years (max 40)
Reserved Category Female 20 years 45 years +10 years (max 45)
General PwD Male 20 years 45 years +10 years (max 45)
General PwD Female 20 years 45 years +15 years (max 45)
Reserved PwD Male 20 years 45 years +15 years (max 45)
Reserved PwD Female 20 years 45 years +20 years (max 45)
Ex-Serviceman 20 years Flexible Service period + 3 years above upper limit

Age is calculated as on the cutoff date 30/11/2025 — not the revised application date. Example: an OBC male candidate born on 01/12/1985 would be exactly 40 years on 30/11/2025, which is within the 40-year maximum — eligible. A candidate born on 30/11/1980 would be 45 years — ineligible even for reserved-category female with maximum relaxation applying. Under no circumstances may the age exceed 45 years for any category after applying all relaxations.

Eligibility Criteria

Post Required Degree Eligible Streams Additional Requirement
Sub Accountant / Sub Auditor (Class-3) Bachelor’s Degree BBA, BCA, B.Com, B.Sc (Maths/Statistics), B.A (Statistics/Economics/Mathematics) Basic Computer Knowledge; Gujarati and Hindi proficiency
Accountant / Auditor / Sub Treasury Officer / Inspector (Class-3) Bachelor’s Degree BBA, BCA, B.Com, B.Sc (Maths/Statistics), B.A (Statistics/Economics/Mathematics) Basic Computer Knowledge; Gujarati and Hindi proficiency

The most common mistake for this post type is applying with a B.Sc (CA & IT) or M.Sc (CA & IT) degree — these are explicitly disqualified in the notification. Final-year students may appear in the Preliminary Exam but must produce passing proof before the Main Exam application. Equivalent qualifications recognized by the Government of India are also accepted as per the notification.

Selection Process

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (MCQ – Objective)

A 150-mark, 2-hour MCQ paper covering 14 subjects including General Studies, Financial Accounting, Auditing, Income Tax, GST, Statistics, Economics, and Management. Every wrong answer carries a negative mark of 0.25. This stage is only a screening test — marks will not count toward the final merit list. Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for all categories.

Stage 2: Main Examination (Descriptive – 2 Papers)

Candidates approximately 7 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the Main Exam. Paper-1 (100 marks, 3 hours) covers Gujarati and English language skills. Paper-2 (100 marks, 3 hours) covers Accountancy, Auditing, GST, Income Tax, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Economics, and Statistics at degree level. Both papers are mandatory — absence from either paper results in disqualification. Minimum 40% required in each paper. The final merit list is based entirely on Main Exam marks.

Your first 7 days after applying:

  1. Download and save your OJAS confirmation number and application printout immediately.
  2. Verify your fee payment receipt is generated — if no receipt appears, repay before 02 July 2026.
  3. Check that your category, date of birth, and educational details match your certificates exactly as entered online.
  4. Begin Preliminary Exam preparation focusing on Financial Accounting and Auditing (combined 30 marks in prelim).
  5. Gather your EWS/SEBC non-creamy layer certificate if applicable — it must be dated between 01/04/2024 and 30/06/2026 for the revised application window.

Document Checklist
  • ✔ Valid email ID and active mobile number (keep active throughout the process)
  • ✔ Passport photo – white background, dated within 1 year of application
  • ✔ Signature scan – black ink on white paper
  • ✔ Degree certificate and marksheet (B.Com/BBA/BCA/B.Sc/B.A as applicable)
  • ✔ School Leaving Certificate for date of birth proof
  • ✔ Caste/Category certificate (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) if applicable, within valid date range

Three rejection mistakes specific to GSSSB OJAS applications:

  1. Entering your SEBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate based on your husband’s income (for married women) — it must be based on your parents’ income; applications with spouse-income NcL certificates are cancelled.
  2. Paying fee and not downloading the payment receipt — if no receipt generates, GSSSB considers the fee unpaid and will reject the application without notification.
  3. Submitting one application, then re-applying to correct an error without paying fresh fee for the latest confirmed application — only the last confirmed application with fee paid is valid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do candidates who already applied in November 2025 need to apply again?
Candidates who applied under the original notification and received a confirmation number do not need to re-apply under Amendment-2. Their earlier application remains valid. Only candidates whose application was rejected due to fee issues or other grounds may apply fresh under this amended window.
Is the Accountant post salary higher than Sub Accountant — and is it worth applying for both?
The Accountant/Auditor/Sub Treasury Officer post carries a fixed pay of ₹49,600 per month (first five years) against ₹26,000 for Sub Accountant — nearly double the pay at the entry stage. Both posts share the same eligibility and exam. During the Main Exam application, candidates indicate their post preference order; securing both options maximises selection chances across 776 total seats.
