EIL Walk-In Interview 2026: 91 Engineer Posts, Salary Up to ₹1.12 Lakh
The EIL walk-in interview 2026 salary in hand is one of the most searched details for this recruitment, and unlike most PSU notifications, Engineers India Limited has published exact consolidated monthly figures broken down by city category — a rare transparency that makes this offer easy to evaluate. Engineers India Limited (EIL), a Navratna Central PSU and India’s premier engineering consultancy, has released Advertisement No. HRD/Rectt./Advt./2026-27/02 inviting experienced engineers and material management professionals for 91 vacancies across nine position codes on a Fixed Term Basis. Posts span Civil, Mechanical, Welding/NDT engineering disciplines and Warehouse/Material Management, targeting deployment at foreign construction sites. Online applications open on 21 April 2026 and close on 04 May 2026, with walk-in interviews scheduled in three batches from 11 May to 29 May 2026 at Gurugram. Given EIL’s Navratna status and the overseas deployment component, competition from experienced PSU and EPC sector engineers is expected to be high despite the fixed-term nature of the contract.

Vacancy Details and Category-wise Analysis
| Code | Post Name | UR | SC | ST | OBC | EWS | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Assoc. Engineer Gr. II (Civil) | 3 | 0 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 5 |
| B | Assoc. Engineer Gr. II (Mechanical) | 3 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 8 |
| C | Assoc. Officer Gr. II (Warehouse) | 5 | 2 | 1 | 4 | 1 | 13 |
| D | Assoc. Engineer Gr. III (Civil) | 7 | 2 | 1 | 4 | 1 | 15 |
| E | Assoc. Engineer Gr. III (Mechanical) | 7 | 3 | 1 | 6 | 1 | 18 |
| F | Assoc. Engineer Gr. III (Welding/NDT) | 3 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 6 |
| G | Assoc. Engineer Gr. IV (Civil) | 3 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 9 |
| H | Assoc. Engineer Gr. IV (Mechanical) | 3 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 1 | 8 |
| I | Assoc. Engineer Gr. IV (Welding/NDT) | 5 | 1 | 0 | 3 | 0 | 9 |
| Total | 39 | 13 | 5 | 27 | 7 | 91 | |
Among all nine position codes, Associate Engineer Grade III (Mechanical) — Code E — carries the highest vacancy count at 18 seats, making it the most competitive post in this cycle. Unreserved (UR) candidates hold 39 of 91 total seats, meaning roughly 43% of positions are open to the general category. OBC (NCL) candidates have 27 seats — the second largest pool — which is significant. PwD reservations are applicable as per GoI directives; persons with 40% or more disability are eligible to apply under the PwD category. The Welding/NDT posts (Codes F and I combined) account for only 15 vacancies across two grades, and both require an ASNT Level-II Certificate — this certification requirement will naturally filter the applicant pool and reduce effective competition for those who hold it. This is a direct-interview recruitment, so the competition ratio differs from written-exam PSU recruitments; however, given EIL’s brand value and the overseas deployment component, expect experienced engineers from EPC majors and other PSUs to apply in significant numbers.
Quick Eligibility Check
- You hold a B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc (Engg.) in Civil or Mechanical with minimum 60% marks (or equivalent CGPA as per EIL’s conversion table)

- Your engineering degree is in a discipline other than Civil or Mechanical (for engineering posts)
- Your qualifying marks are below 60% (or below 55% for Warehouse post)
- You have not completed the required minimum years of post-qualification experience as on 31.03.2026
- For Welding/NDT posts: you do not hold a valid ASNT Level-II Certificate
- You have exceeded the upper age limit as on 31.03.2026 (without applicable relaxation)
- You are unable to join within 15 days of result — EIL has explicitly stated this condition
- You have not submitted the online application before appearing for the walk-in interview
One commonly missed point specific to this notification: the cut-off date for both experience and age is 31 March 2026, not the application closing date of 04 May 2026. Candidates who will complete their required experience between April and May 2026 are therefore not eligible.
Important Dates

| Notification Release | April 2026 |
| Online Application Opens | 21 April 2026 (0000 hrs) |
| Online Application Last Date | 04 May 2026 (2359 hrs) |

| Walk-In Interview — Batch 2 (Codes B, E, H) | 18 May – 22 May 2026 |
| Walk-In Interview — Batch 3 (Codes F, I) | 25 May – 29 May 2026 |
| Venue (all batches) | EIL, Sector-16, NH-48, Gurugram, Haryana-122001 |
| Reporting Time | 08:00 a.m. |
| Joining Deadline (if selected) | Within 15 days of result announcement |
With the online window running from 21 April to 04 May 2026 — just 14 days — candidates should register early rather than on the final day. EIL’s portal can experience heavy traffic in the last 48 hours of any application window, risking upload failures for photographs and signatures. More critically, the exact walk-in date within each batch window will be communicated by email; a delayed registration means you may have less time to prepare travel and accommodation to Gurugram. Document preparation — especially original experience certificates clearly stating joining date, separation date, and nature of work — requires time if you are currently employed and need relieving or NOC letters.
Recruitment Overview
| Detail | Information |
|---|---|
| Organisation | Engineers India Limited (EIL) |
| PSU Status | Navratna Central Public Sector Undertaking |
| Post Names | Assoc. Engineer Gr. II/III/IV (Civil, Mechanical, Welding/NDT); Assoc. Officer Gr. II (Warehouse) |

Engineers India Limited is one of India’s most respected PSUs in the hydrocarbon, refinery, and petrochemical engineering space. As a Navratna company, EIL has executed projects across more than 70 countries, and this fixed-term engagement is specifically for overseas construction site deployment — meaning selected candidates will gain rare international project experience in Refinery and Petrochemical construction. While the contract is not a permanent appointment and EIL has explicitly stated no claim for regularisation will be entertained, the compensation package, foreign allowances, and international exposure make this a highly sought-after fixed-term role in the engineering sector.
Salary, Pay Scale and Consolidated Remuneration
| Designation | X Category Cities (₹/month) | Y Category Cities (₹/month) | Z Category Cities (₹/month) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Associate Officer Gr. II / Associate Engineer Gr. II | 80,000 | 76,000 | 72,000 |
| Associate Engineer Grade III | 96,000 | 91,200 | 86,400 |
| Associate Engineer Grade IV | 1,12,000 | 1,06,400 | 1,00,800 |
The remuneration figures above are consolidated monthly packages already inclusive of HRA and PF contributions — this is a key distinction from regular PSU pay scales where these components are calculated separately. For a Grade IV engineer posted in an X-category city (e.g., Delhi/Gurugram), the consolidated pay is ₹1,12,000 per month gross. Since PF is included within this consolidated figure, there is no additional employer PF deduction on top; the employee-side deduction, if structured within this package, effectively makes the take-home approximately ₹95,000–₹1,05,000 per month depending on individual tax liability under the new tax regime. For Grade III at Y-category cities (where most foreign site postings may be benchmarked), the consolidated figure is ₹91,200 per month.
Beyond the base consolidated salary, EIL provides: reimbursement of medical insurance premium up to ₹2,00,000 per annum for self; reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses for overtime work; coverage under EIL’s GPAI (Group Personal Accident Insurance) scheme; travel allowances for official duty travel; and 2 days of paid leave per completed month. For foreign postings specifically, additional Living Allowance, Rest and Recuperation (R&R) allowance, and other overseas allowances apply as per company policy — these are not quantified in the notification but typically represent a substantial uplift over the base consolidated figure.
Application Fee
The official notification for EIL Walk-In Interview 2026 (HRD/Rectt./Advt./2026-27/02) does not mention any application fee. Candidates are not required to pay any fee to register online or attend the walk-in interview.
Age Limit and Relaxation
| Grade | Upper Age Limit (as on 31.03.2026) | OBC (NCL) Relaxation | SC/ST Relaxation | PwD (General/EWS) Relaxation | PwD-OBC (NCL) | PwD-SC/ST | Ex-Servicemen |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Associate Engineer Gr. II / Associate Officer Gr. II | 37 years | +3 years | +5 years | +10 years | +13 years | +15 years | As per GoI norms |
| Associate Engineer Grade III | 41 years | +3 years | +5 years | +10 years | +13 years | +15 years | As per GoI norms |
| Associate Engineer Grade IV | 45 years | +3 years | +5 years | +10 years | +13 years | +15 years | As per GoI norms |
Age calculation example (General/UR category, Grade III posts): Upper age limit is 41 years as on 31.03.2026. Candidates born on or after 01 April 1985 and on or before 31 March 2026 are within the age limit. For OBC (NCL) candidates, the effective cut-off birth date moves to 01 April 1982 (41 + 3 years). For SC/ST candidates, it moves to 01 April 1980 (41 + 5 years). Note that age relaxation for PwD candidates is 10 years over the standard limit, making the effective upper age 51 years for General/EWS-PwD applicants for Grade III posts — one of the most generous relaxations in any PSU fixed-term recruitment.
Eligibility Criteria
| Post | Educational Qualification | Min. Marks | Min. Post-Qualification Experience | Preferred Experience Area |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Assoc. Engineer Gr. II (Civil / Mechanical) | B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc (Engg.) — Civil or Mechanical | 60% | 5 years | Refinery/Petrochemical construction |
| Assoc. Officer Gr. II (Warehouse) | Graduate (Arts/Commerce/Science) + Diploma in Material Management | 55% | 14 years | Refinery/Petrochemical/Pipeline/Infrastructure |
| Assoc. Engineer Gr. III (Civil / Mechanical) | B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc (Engg.) — Civil or Mechanical | 60% | 9 years | Refinery/Petrochemical construction |
| Assoc. Engineer Gr. III (Welding/NDT) | B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc (Engg.) — Mechanical + ASNT Level-II Certificate (RT/UT/DPT/MPT) | 60% | 9 years | Refinery/Petrochemical construction |
| Assoc. Engineer Gr. IV (Civil / Mechanical) | B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc (Engg.) — Civil or Mechanical | 60% | 13 years | Refinery/Petrochemical construction |
| Assoc. Engineer Gr. IV (Welding/NDT) | B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc (Engg.) — Mechanical + ASNT Level-II Certificate (RT/UT/DPT/MPT) | 60% | 13 years | Refinery/Petrochemical construction |
The most common eligibility error for this type of walk-in recruitment is miscalculating experience. Only post-qualification relevant experience counts — experience gained before completing the qualifying degree is not counted. For the Welding/NDT posts, the ASNT Level-II Certificate must be in at least one of the specified methods (RT, UT, DPT, or MPT); candidates should carry the original certificate to the interview. The notification does not permit final-year or appearing candidates to apply — all experience and qualification thresholds must be met as on 31.03.2026. If your degree uses a CGPA or letter grade system and you cannot produce a percentage conversion certificate from your institute, EIL will apply its own conversion table (e.g., 6.5/10 = 60%) — the full table is available on page 5 of the official notification.
Selection Process
Stage 1: Document Screening
On the day of the walk-in interview, EIL officials will screen your application and original certificates to confirm eligibility for the applied position. Only candidates who pass document screening in all respects will proceed to the personal interview. Candidates who do not meet even one criterion — experience duration, qualification marks, ASNT certificate for NDT posts — will be turned away at this stage. Bring all documents in original along with self-attested photocopies of every document, and carry 6 printed copies of your online application form with a colour photograph affixed.
Stage 2: Personal Interview
The personal interview is merit-based and evaluates technical knowledge, relevant project experience, and suitability for overseas deployment. For senior grades (Grade IV), expect in-depth questions on construction management in Refinery/Petrochemical environments, international standards, and site execution experience. Interviews may run until 8:00 p.m. and could continue the following day if the candidate volume is high — build flexibility into your travel plan and arrange accommodation in Gurugram if needed.
Stage 3: Medical Fitness
Selected candidates will be required to pass a medical examination before joining. Given that posting involves foreign construction sites (often in demanding environments), the medical standard is likely to be thorough. Candidates with known health conditions are advised to clarify fitness criteria in advance.
Your first 7 days after applying
- Save your registration number and check your email daily — EIL will send the exact interview date within your batch window via email; missing this email means missing your slot.
- Assemble all original experience certificates immediately — each certificate must show joining date, separation date, and nature of work; if your employer uses a different format, obtain a supplementary letter on company letterhead.
- If currently employed, initiate your NOC request now — government or autonomous body employees must carry a No Objection Certificate in original; this can take a week or more to process.
- Book travel and accommodation in Gurugram early — all three interview batches are scheduled at EIL’s Sector-16, Gurugram campus; hotels near NH-48 fill up quickly during large walk-in events.
- Prepare a concise project portfolio — for Grade III and IV posts requiring 9–13 years of experience, interviewers will probe specific Refinery/Petrochemical project details; prepare a one-page summary of your top three relevant projects with scope, value, and your specific role.
Exam Syllabus and Pattern
How to Apply — Step by Step
- Visit the official EIL website and navigate to the Careers section.
- Read the full notification PDF carefully before starting your application — pay special attention to the experience cut-off date of 31.03.2026 and the specific experience required for your chosen position code.
- Click on the Apply Online / New Registration link for Advertisement No. HRD/Rectt./Advt./2026-27/02.
- Fill in all personal, educational, and experience details accurately — ensure the percentage of marks is rounded down to the lower whole number (e.g., 60.9 should be entered as 60), and CGPA is rounded down to the lower decimal (e.g., 6.95 should be entered as 6.9).
- Upload your scanned photograph (.jpg/.jpeg, max 75 KB) and signature (.jpg/.jpeg, max 25 KB) — ensure both are within the specified file size limits before starting the form.

- ✔ Print 6 copies of the online application form — each must have a recent colour photograph affixed (not stapled)
- ✔ Do not appear for the walk-in without a valid registration number from the online submission — unregistered candidates will not be considered under any circumstances
- ✔ Carry self-attested photocopies of every document in addition to originals
- ✔ Dates are subject to change — verify from the official EIL website before travelling
- ✔ This article is for informational purposes only
- Experience certificates that do not explicitly state the date of joining, date of separation, and nature of work handled will be rejected at the screening stage — a generic employment certificate or offer letter alone is insufficient.
- OBC (NCL) certificates must be in the prescribed Government of India format and issued by a competent authority — state government OBC certificates without the “Non-Creamy Layer” mention are not accepted for central PSU recruitments.
- For CGPA-based degrees, the absence of a university/institute conversion certificate will result in EIL applying its own fixed conversion table; if this brings your CGPA below the 60% equivalent, you will be disqualified at the screening stage itself.
Expert Tips
1. Register in the First 3 Days — Before 24 April 2026
The online window is only 14 days (21 April to 04 May 2026), which is unusually short for a PSU recruitment. EIL’s portal is known to face high traffic in the final 48 hours of any application window. Registering early also gives you a buffer to resolve any upload issues with your photograph or signature before the portal closes. More importantly, once registered, EIL will send the exact interview date within your batch via email — early registrants tend to receive earlier date slots within the batch window, giving you more time to arrange travel to Gurugram.
2. Read Page 4 of the Notification Carefully — The 15-Day Joining Condition
Page 4 of the official notification contains a condition that many candidates overlook: selected candidates must join within 15 days of result announcement. EIL has explicitly stated that only candidates willing to join within this timeline should appear for the interview. If you are currently in a notice period of 30–90 days with your employer, appearing for this interview without confirming your ability to join in 15 days could be a wasted effort — or worse, create professional difficulties. Clarify your exit timeline before attending.
3. Prepare Your Project Experience Narrative for Grade III and IV Posts
With 9–13 years of required experience for Grade III and IV positions, the personal interview will go deep into your project execution background. Prepare a clear, structured account of your involvement in at least two Refinery or Petrochemical construction projects — covering scope, your specific role, key challenges, and relevant standards (API, ASME, IS codes as applicable to your discipline). For Welding/NDT posts, be ready to discuss your ASNT Level-II test methods and site application experience in detail. Generic answers about “team player” qualities will not work at this level of seniority.
4. Most Common Disqualification for This Walk-In — Missing Original Documents
EIL’s notification explicitly states: “In case of non-availability of any original document to meet the eligibility criteria, candidate will not be considered for further selection process.” This is a hard rule with no exceptions. The most common scenario where candidates lose eligibility on the day: experience certificates from previous employers that do not clearly state the date of joining, date of separation, and nature of work; or OBC/EWS certificates that are not in the prescribed Government of India format. Do not assume a photocopy or a scanned print will be accepted as a substitute for any original document.

- The initial engagement is on a fixed-term basis for 1–2 years (as applicable per post), extendable based on project requirement and satisfactory performance for a maximum total period of 3 years from the date of joining. There is no path to permanent/regular appointment in EIL through this fixed-term engagement.
- Will there be foreign posting for all selected candidates in EIL 2026?
- The primary deployment is at foreign construction sites of EIL; however, the notification states that posting can be anywhere in India or abroad depending on organisational requirement. During foreign postings, additional Living Allowance, R&R allowance, and other applicable overseas allowances will be provided as per company policy.
- What is the experience cut-off date for EIL walk-in interview 2026?
- The cut-off date for both post-qualification relevant experience and upper age limit is 31 March 2026 — not the application closing date. Experience accrued after this date will not be counted. Candidates who will complete their minimum required experience between April and May 2026 are not eligible.
