Among the July 2026 releases, IOCL Panipat has announced one of the largest apprenticeship recruitment drives in the PSU sector. Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Panipat Refinery & Petrochemical Complex has released a notification for engagement of Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961/1973 (as amended). A total of 1450 vacancies are available across 11 different trades/disciplines. The online application window is open on NAPS/NATS portals from 14/07/2026 to 12/08/2026.

Competition Insight: With 1450 total vacancies, Technician Apprentice (Chemical) has the highest number of seats (288), followed by Mechanical (226), and Fitter (208). The Data Entry Operator (Fresher) has 155 seats. • Code 101 – Attendant Operator (Chemical Plant): B.Sc. (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry) – 3 years course.
• Code 102 – Trade Apprentice (Fitter): Matric with ITI in Fitter Trade of minimum 2 years duration with Pass class.
• Code 104 – Technician Apprentice (Chemical): 3 years Diploma in Chemical Engg./Petrochemical Engg./Chemical Technology/Refinery and Petrochemical Engg.
• Code 105 – Technician Apprentice (Mechanical): 3 years Diploma in Mechanical Engg.
• Code 106 – Technician Apprentice (Electrical): 3 years Diploma in Electrical Engg./Electrical and Electronics Engg.
• Code 107 – Technician Apprentice (Instrumentation): 3 years Diploma in Instrumentation Engg./Instrumentation & Electronics/Instrumentation & Control Engg./Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engg.
• Code 108 – Trade Apprentice (Secretarial Assistant): B.A./B.Sc./B.Com – 3 years course.
• Code 109 – Trade Apprentice (Accountant): B.Com – 3 years course.

Important Eligibility Conditions

• Minimum Marks: 50% for UR/OBC (45% for SC/PwBD for reserved seats).
• Regular Full-time: Qualification must be from a recognized Board/University/Institute as a regular full-time course.
• Part-time/Correspondence: Not eligible.
• 5-Year Rule: Candidates who have completed 5 years after acquiring the prescribed qualification are not eligible.
• 1-Year Experience Rule: Candidates with job experience of one year or more are not eligible.
• Higher Qualification: Candidates with B.E./B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA are not eligible.
• NATS/NAPS Registration: Mandatory for all candidates.

Selection Process

Stage 1: Online Application

Candidates must complete both Step I (NAPS/NATS registration) and Step II (Microsoft Forms) for successful application.

Stage 2: Merit List Preparation

Selection is based on percentage of marks in descending order (aggregate of all subjects of all years/semesters) in the prescribed qualification. No written test.

Stage 3: Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification in the ratio based on seat availability.

Stage 4: Pre-Engagement Medical Fitness

Selected candidates must fulfill the minimum physical fitness standard / parameters as specified in the Apprentices Act.
