Mathematics 03 01 01 01 03 9
Physics 01 1

Competition analysis: With 61 permanent Group A positions at a premier Delhi university, expected applicants: 5,000+ for non-teaching and 10,000+ for teaching (based on previous NSUT recruitments). Assistant Professor has the highest vacancies (39), but Mathematics alone has 14 seats – the best ratio. Associate Professor (19 seats) requires higher qualifications (Ph.D. + 8 years), so applicant pool is smaller – roughly 1:20 selection ratio. OBC (Delhi) candidates have significant reservation benefit, but note that OBC outside Delhi must apply under UR. PwBD candidates have specific identified posts – only VH for Associate Professor, only DD & OTH for Assistant Professor.

5. Salary and In-Hand Calculation (7th CPC)

All posts are regular, permanent positions (except Campus Director and TPO are tenure posts but on same pay scale). The following in-hand calculations are approximate for Delhi (X-class city) with current DA @53% (as of 2026).

Post Pay Level Basic Pay (Entry) Gross Approx. In-Hand Approx. (after NPS & deductions)
Campus Director Level 14 ₹1,44,200 ₹2,45,000 ₹2,10,000 – ₹2,15,000
Training & Placement Officer Level 13A1 ₹1,31,100 ₹2,22,000 ₹1,90,000 – ₹1,95,000
Medical Officer Level 10 ₹56,100 ₹95,000 ₹81,000 – ₹83,000
Associate Professor Level 13A1 ₹1,31,400 ₹2,23,000 ₹1,91,000 – ₹1,96,000
Assistant Professor Level 10 ₹57,700 ₹97,000 ₹83,000 – ₹85,000

In-hand calculation example (Assistant Professor, Level 10):
Basic Pay: ₹57,700
DA (53%): ₹30,581
HRA (27% for X-class Delhi): ₹15,579
TA (Level 10): ₹3,600
Gross = ₹1,07,460
Deductions: NPS (10% of Basic+DA = 10% of ₹88,281 = ₹8,828), CGEGIS, Professional Tax ~₹300. Total deduction ~₹9,200.
Approximate in-hand = ₹98,000 – ₹98,500 (slightly higher than table because basic at entry may be at minimum of level).
For Campus Director Level 14, in-hand is significantly higher (~₹2.1 lakh/month).

Comparison with contract positions: Unlike KGBV contract honorarium, these are regular government pay scale positions with annual increments, DA revision, HRA, TA, NPS (mandatory), medical benefits, and eligibility for future promotions. The in-hand salary is roughly 3‑4 times higher than equivalent contract roles. Candidates posted at East or West Campus (Delhi NCR) also receive X-class HRA because both are within Delhi region.

New Pension Scheme (NPS): Medical Officer and all teaching entrants are mandatorily covered under NPS. Campus Director and TPO may have protected pay if already in Level 15.

6. Application Fee

Category Registration Fee Processing Fee Total
General / OBC (Delhi) / EWS ₹1,000 ₹1,000 ₹2,000
SC / ST / PwBD Nil ₹1,000 ₹1,000

Note: SC/ST/PwBD candidates applying for UR posts still pay only ₹1,000. Failure to pay the fee results in rejection. Payment is online through the NSUT application portal.

7. Age Limit (As on closing date of online application – 30 June 2026)

Post Maximum Age Born after cutoff (not eligible if born before)
Campus Director 60 years 30 June 1966
Training & Placement Officer 50 years 30 June 1976
Medical Officer 35 years 30 June 1991
Assistant Professor 35 years 30 June 1991
Associate Professor 50 years 30 June 1976

Age relaxation: As per DoPT guidelines (OM No. DOPT-1667569393892 dated 06.09.2022). SC/ST up to 5 years, OBC (Delhi NCL) up to 3 years, PwBD up to 10 years. Ex-servicemen and other categories as per central rules. Age is verified from Class 10 certificate.

8. Eligibility Criteria – Post-wise Summary

Post Essential Qualification Experience
Campus Director Ph.D. + First Class at Bachelor’s/Master’s in Engineering/Technology; 2 Ph.D. guided; 10 research publications in SCI/SCIE/SSCI 15 years total (5 years as Professor in regular scale)
TPO MBA/PGDM (2 years) with UG in Engg./Management/Sciences/Commerce 12 years total (6 years in T&P in Level 10 or above) – Desirable: UG in Engineering
Medical Officer MBBS recognized by MCI (including internship completion before appointment) Compulsory rotating internship (may be in progress at application)
Assistant Professor (Sciences) Master’s with 55% + NET/Ph.D. (exemptions as per UGC 2009/2016) OR Ph.D. from top 500 foreign university Freshers may apply; teaching experience not mandatory but adds weightage
Assistant Professor (Design) Bachelor’s + Master’s in Design/Engineering with first class + 2 years industry/teaching experience OR Integrated Master’s + 3 years experience 2/3 years professional design experience; Ph.D. desirable
Assistant Professor (Geo-Informatics) B.E./B.Tech + M.E./M.Tech in relevant specialization (Geo-informatics, Remote Sensing, GIS, etc.) with first class in either degree No mandatory experience; Ph.D. desirable
Associate Professor (all) Ph.D. + Master’s with 55% + 7 publications + research score 75 (as per UGC 2018 Appendix II Table 2) 8 years teaching/research (2 years post-Ph.D.)
Associate Professor (Design) Ph.D. + first class at Bachelor’s/Master’s in Design/Engineering + 6 publications in SCI/SCIE/SSCI/AHCI 8 years professional design experience (2 years post-Ph.D.)

Most common eligibility mistake: For Assistant Professor in Sciences, assuming that a Ph.D. alone automatically exempts NET. The Ph.D. must fulfill ALL five conditions: regular mode, two external examiners, open viva, two publications (one in referred journal), and two conference presentations – certified by Registrar/Dean. Without this certificate, NET is mandatory. Also, for PwBD candidates, only identified disability categories (as per 04.01.2021 notification) will be considered – e.g., only VH for Associate Professor reserved post.

9. Selection Process

For Non-Teaching Posts (Campus Director, TPO, Medical Officer)

Selection is purely through interview. No written test. Shortlisting may be done based on qualifications and experience if large number of applications. The University reserves the right to set shortlisting criteria.

For Assistant Professor (Teaching)

Written Test (mandatory except for NET qualified in Sciences): Candidates for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics who have qualified UGC NET are exempted. All others (including Design, Geo-Informatics, Biological Sciences) must appear for a written test. Cut-off is higher of relative (50% of top 5 average for Gen) and absolute (35% marks).
Screening as per Table A: Shortlisted candidates scored on Academic Record (UG/PG/Ph.D.), Experience, Publications, Projects, Patents, Research Guidance – total 100 marks (50 for qualifications, 50 for experience/research). Minimum 30% for Gen/OBC/EWS, 25% for SC/ST/PwBD to be called for Teaching Aptitude Assessment (TAA) & Interview.
Teaching Aptitude Assessment: Presentation before selection committee – graded A (Very Good), B (Good), C (Average), D (Below Average).
Final merit: 50% weightage to Table A score + 50% to interview (including TAA). Minimum overall cutoff: 50 for General/OBC/EWS, 45 for SC/ST/PwBD.

For Associate Professor

No written test. Direct screening as per Table A (40 marks for qualifications, 60 for experience/research). Minimum 30% (Gen) / 25% (Reserved) to be called for interview. Final selection based on Table A score (50%) + interview performance (50%).

Critical tip: For Assistant Professor, if you have NET, you are exempted from written test – but you still must meet the minimum Table A score. Don’t skip uploading NET certificate. For all candidates, ensure every claimed publication, project, patent has documentary proof (sanction letters, completion certificates, front page of papers).

10. Exam Syllabus

For Assistant Professor Written Test: The syllabus will be uploaded on NSUT website (nsut.ac.in) in due course. It will be based on the relevant subject/discipline at Master’s level and general teaching/research aptitude. Candidates are advised to regularly check the website. For exempted candidates (NET qualified in Sciences), no written test is required.

❌ 3 rejection mistakes to avoid:
1. OBC certificate invalid: Only OBC Delhi with NCL (valid for FY 2026‑27) accepted. OBC outside Delhi will be treated as UR – do not select OBC category.
2. Hard copy not submitted: Online submission alone is incomplete. Hard copy must reach by 15 July 2026. No extension.
3. Missing NET or Ph.D. exemption certificate: For Assistant Professor, if you claim NET exemption via Ph.D., you must attach the university certificate certifying all five conditions. Without it, your application will be rejected.
