Stream-Wise Seat Distribution (Most Important)

Stream Percentage of Seats Allotted
Science 30%
Commerce 28%
Arts 40%
Vocational 2%

Arts stream has the highest allocation at 40% – this means candidates with Arts subjects in 10+2 have the maximum seat availability. Science follows with 30%, Commerce with 28%, and Vocational only 2%. What this means for you: Arts applicants face the largest pool but also most seats. Science and Commerce have tighter competition per seat. Vocational stream requires specific 10+2 vocational qualification or technical diploma approved by Technical Education Department, Haryana.

Seat conversion rules: If Science stream seats remain vacant, they convert to Commerce and vice versa. If both Science and Commerce vacancies exist, they convert to Arts stream. This benefits Arts applicants indirectly. Vocational vacancies convert to Arts as well. Outside Haryana candidates get 15% seats – if these remain vacant, they convert to open category for Haryana residents.

Stream subjects required: Science – English + at least 3 from Physics/Chemistry/Maths/Biology. Commerce – English + at least 3 from Business Studies/Accountancy/Maths/Economics. Arts – English + any 4 Arts subjects. Vocational – English + vocational subjects as per HBSE NSQF or technical diploma.

Category-Wise Reservation (Haryana Residents Only)

Category Reservation Percentage
Scheduled Castes (SC) – Total 20%
Within SC: Scheduled Castes 10% (50% of 20%)

Backward Classes Block A (BCA) 16%
Backward Classes Block B (BCB) 11%
EWS (Economically Weaker Section) 10%
Physically Challenged (PwD) – Horizontal 3% (1.5% Blindness + 1.5% Locomotor Disability)
Ex-Servicemen / Freedom Fighter Dependents – Horizontal 1% each within General/SC/BC categories

Deprived Scheduled Castes list includes 36 communities (Ad Dharmi, Balmiki, Chamar, Dhanak, Khatik, Mazhabi Sikh, Sansi, etc.) – see Annexure I & II in notification. BC Block A includes Ahir/Yadav, Gujjar, Lodh, Saini, Meo, Gosai. BC Block B includes 70+ castes (Naik, Barai, Bhat, Dhobi, Kumbar, Teli, Sunar, etc.). PwD disability must be 40% or above.
