Haryana UG Admission 2026: Apply Online, Fees & Process

Haryana UG Admission 2026-27: Overview and Quick Snapshot

The Haryana UG admission 2026 online application process has officially begun under the Director General of Higher Education (DGHE), Haryana. The centralized admission portal covers all Government, Government Aided, and Self-Finance colleges across the state for UG 1st Year programmes in the academic session 2026-27. Admissions are conducted in three rounds of counselling – two merit-based online rounds and one physical counselling round. One key detail students often miss: the ₹100 registration fee is non-refundable, so confirm your college and course choices carefully before paying. Eligibility is based on marks of best five subjects in the qualifying (12th) examination, with up to 10% additional weightage applicable for eligible candidates.

Admission Rounds and Seat Allotment Process

Understanding how seat allotment works in Haryana UG Admission 2026-27 is critical to maximising your chances, and this is where most students make costly mistakes. The admission process runs in three distinct rounds.

In Round 1 (1st Merit List), the system generates a merit list programme-wise based on best five subject marks in your 12th examination, applicable weightage (maximum 10%), the state reservation seat matrix, and completion of online document verification. If you applied to the same programme in three colleges – say in order B, C, A – the system allots you a seat in only one college based on your merit rank following your stated preference order. If you applied for different programmes in the same college, you may receive seat offers in all of them subject to availability and rank. A key feature here is the Defer option: if you were allotted a seat in Round 1 but it was not your first choice, you can defer that seat for reconsideration in Round 2 – but only if you did not receive your first preference in Round 1.

In Round 2 (2nd Merit List), only candidates who applied before the deadline and received no offer in Round 1 are considered. If you were offered a seat in Round 1 but did not pay the fee within the specified timeline, you are excluded from Round 2 unless you had selected the Defer option. Round 2 follows the same merit generation pattern as Round 1. Note: these two online rounds are not applicable for PG admissions.

Round 3 (Physical Counselling) is conducted at the college level. Colleges prepare and display their own merit lists daily. The state reservation policy is applied in full. A programme-wise waiting list of all interested students (including those who have already taken admission elsewhere) is provided to colleges daily through their login on the portal. Candidates who took admission in Round 1 or 2 and wish to switch must physically visit their current college to cancel their seat before booking a new one through physical counselling – this cancellation is not automatic during physical counselling.

Seat Booking Rule: In Government Colleges, payment at the time of seat booking must be made online only. In Aided and Self-Finance Colleges, both online and cash (offline) payment are accepted. If you book through physical counselling, your earlier Round 1 or 2 allotment is auto-cancelled upon payment confirmation.

Registration Fee

Category Fee Payment Mode
All Candidates ₹100 Online (Credit/Debit Card, Net Banking via BillDesk)

The ₹100 registration fee is explicitly non-refundable as stated in the official portal. Fee exemptions by category are not mentioned in the official notification – candidates are advised to check the official notice for any updates on this.

Weightage in Merit Calculation

The Haryana DHE admission merit list is not based solely on 12th marks – candidates can gain up to 10% additional weightage which can meaningfully shift merit rank. Weightage is awarded for the following (maximum 10 marks total):

Weightage Criteria Marks
Recipient of National Talent Award from NCERT 5 Marks
NCC ‘B’ Certificate holder / Bharat Scouts & Guide Certificate (President of India) / Sports Certificate / NSS Merit Certificate (Class 12 student) 5 Marks
Institute situated in Rural Area of Haryana (12th/Equivalent Diploma passed from) 5 Marks
Students who passed 10+2 with Commerce stream (For B.Com only) 5 Marks

If you claim any weightage category, you must upload scanned copies of the original supporting documents in the Document Upload section – missing documents will disqualify the weightage claim.

Candidates must upload weightage documents to claim these additional marks.
What is the Defer option in Haryana UG Admission 2026?
The Defer option allows a student allotted a seat in the 1st Merit List to defer that allotment for reconsideration in the 2nd Merit List. If you are admitted through Round 1 or Round 2 and want to move to a different college through Physical Counselling, your previous admission is automatically cancelled upon new seat booking. However, if you book a seat during Physical Counselling and then want to switch again on a later day, you must physically visit the college to cancel your current seat before booking a new one – this cancellation is not automatic.
