PNB Local Bank Officer Recruitment 2026: Overview

Punjab National Bank has officially released a notification for Local Bank Officer (LBO), JMGS-I, inviting online applications for 545 vacancies spread across 17 states and union territories. State-Wise Vacancy and Language Requirement

Selection Process

I. Online Written Test

There is negative marking: one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General/EWS category and 35% for Reserved category in each section, though the Bank reserves the right to revise this at its sole discretion.

II. Screening

Applications and documents of written-test-qualified candidates are scrutinized to check eligibility before the Language Proficiency Test or Interview. Ineligible or falsely documented candidates are rejected at this stage.

III. Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT)

Candidates who did not study the applied state’s local language as a subject in 10th or 12th standard must clear this qualifying-nature test, assessing reading, writing, and speaking proficiency. Failing the LLPT makes a candidate ineligible for final selection regardless of other scores. Candidates who studied the language in 10th/12th are exempted, subject to documentary proof.

IV. Personal Interview

Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years and must execute an Indemnity Bond to serve the Bank for at least 3 years, or pay ₹2,00,000 if they leave before completing 3 years of active service.
